Johnny Walker 15 Years Sherry Finish Launched in Malaysia

Think Johnnie Walker and you'll probably be familiar with their colour coded brand range - Red, Black Green, Gold, Platinum, Blue....Yes the Walker family is popularly loved for their blended whiskies, and the newly launched Johnnie Walker Aged 15 Years Sherry Finish is no exception.

Cardhu, Glen Elgin and Clynelish are some of the single malts that went into the making of the 15YO.

Made with a blend of 15-year-old single malt whiskies then finished in ex-Sherry oak casks, this new expression is only available in selected locations - both China, Taiwan, and now Malaysia.

It's unlike the usual JW as it's on the sweeter side and have none of the usual signature Walker smoke, making it a an easy accompaniment to Asian cuisines, as we discovered it for ourselves at the launch lunch that feature a yummy-licious Chinese seafood menu by One Seafood Restaurant

Official tasting notes: Exhibiting flavors of candied fruits, dried fruits, and coco exclusive to sherry. On the nose, a slight floral aroma along with the fragrance of baked apples, honey and vanilla is present without the usual trace of smokiness, while it presents notes of candied fruits, chocolate and nuts exclusive to sherry on the palate, followed by an exquisite floral fragrance. This is a classic flavour profile from the Clynelish Distillery located in the Highland region of Scotland. Together with the aromas of fruit cake and dried fruits exclusive to the Glen Elgin Distillery, there is a great depth of flavour finished off with honey and candied-fruit endnotes that linger after every sip. Johnnie Walker Aged 15 Years Sherry Finish offers a sweet and aromatic experience.

The Johnnie Walker Aged 15 Years Sherry Finish is available on Boozeat, Stay Thirsty, and at major supermarkets. Now with CMCO hitting selected states in Malaysia, what better time to get hold of them online and try it at home with your own homecooked food? Don't forget to jio us, ya!

Jann, Four Points Sheraton Chinatown KL

The Petaling Street / Chinatown area is booming with foreign and local tourists, drawn by the mushrooming of new, quaint F&B outlets, super Instagram-able graffiti and design, and most of all - bars of all shapes and sizes.

Enter newest kid on the block, Jann. A cocktail bar that's located on the 7th floor of the newly opened Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown.

Jann, named after the daughter of the family that owns the hotel, features signature drinks inspired by the flavours and ingredients from Petaling Street.

Headed by Lawson (previously of The Deceased) and assisted by Chris (previously from Three X Co), these two boys creatively put together a list of 12 signature cocktails. They would, as much as possible, even purchase the ingredients from Petaling Street in their bid to support the small businesses that make up the heritage of area.

Asam Laksa (RM45) - A margarita twist named after the laksa stall located along Jalan Hang Lekir (Madras Lane).
Aged tequila, ginger flower, asam keping, orange, calamansi.

Bak Kwa (RM45)  actually has bakwa from Oloiya.. who actually started off selling orange juice.
A lighter version of a Screwdriver, but with grand marnier, lemon and tea foam.

Great Master Kui (RM40) is meant to take you to Sin Sze Ya temple.
(Tea-infused gin, aperol, elderflower liqueur, grapefruit, lemon)

Wanna guess why this is called Kapitan Yap (hint: hat)?
This interesting take to the whisky sour is made with jackfruit-infused Jack Daniel's.

Tau Foo Fah (RM40) is made with Tau foo fah from the infamous Jalan Petaling Tau Foo Fah stall, spiked with dark rum.

The Tailor - paying homage to the century-old fashioned tailor shop along Jalan Sultan.
This Old Fashioned is twisted with Jack Daniel's that's infused with bonito.

But like all freshly opened establishments, we were told that the drinks menu will continue to be tweaked.

Of course they have other items on the menu as well, spirits (as it's part of the Mariott group, you can expect the back of the bar to be dominated by  popular Pernod Ricard brands), beer on tap (which we need to find our more about), wine.... and of course bar snacks.

The bar itself is a marriage of old and new, east and west. As you enter, it's hard to miss the horse-shoe shaped open-concept bar.  And with an open air balcony with a view of the KL skyline.

Can't wait to check it out again once they have settled in.
