Director's Cut at TTDI

Whisky folks in the Klang Valley rejoice, for we are now blessed with the opening of a brand new whisky bar in Taman Tun.

Director's Cut is related to the Whisky Bar at Changkat Bukit Bintang - so you can expect for this bar to still have loads and loads of whiskies (bottles and by flights) for whisky lovers to explore.

Click on the image to enlarge it for a much clearer read of the whisky menu - this is only the index page btw... the menu is thiccccc.

Admittedly, it won't carry the entire list from Whisky Bar (over 1000+ labels now!), but it will still feature too many (over 700+ labels) for you to finish. However, if you ask nicely, special arrangements can be made (ie, they could bring over the whisky from Whisky Bar if Director's Cut doesn't have it).

Regulars of Whisky Bar might recognise Marcus, who has been with the group for over 8 years.

There's plenty of al fresco sitting outside while inside features a comfortable sofa lounge area. There are also private rooms available (minimum spending required) - 3 in total. However, with sliding walls, all 3 rooms can be merged into one long one.

The bar is also easily accessible via Refinery, their sister cafe, through an adjoining tunnel.

And because it's by the Werner's Group you can bet that their food menu will be on point.

This bar features one extra special thing - the Culinary Lab. It features a Rotavap R-300  (evidently a food and beverage scientist's wet dream)  manned by a resident chemist, Chong, who will be experimenting with ingredients and flavours for the bar.

The current 8 cocktails in the menu were created using flavours and ingredients generated from this machine - and the ones we tried did not disappoint.

L: New York Upside Down 2.0 (RM52) - Shiraz wine reduction, rye whiskey, egg white, lemon, orange, bitter (YUMMY YUM!).
R: Crystal espresso Martini (RM52) - slow extraction of scotch, espresso & kahlua, malibu aspic, EVO coconut oil (All these flavours! I can't believe it's transparent! It's like MAGIC!)

A note to local F&B mad scientists - the folks at Director's Cut would be happy to let you have a go at the rotary evaporator for your own experiments, so just give them a holler and don't say bojio!
