This collection sits alongside Penfolds’ international portfolio - including wine ventures in the US and China - marking its continued expansion beyond its South Australian roots.
The Malaysian lineup includes three new releases:
- Penfolds Cuvée Brut NV Champagne (RM425)
- Penfolds Rosé NV Champagne (RM485)
- 2021 FWT 585 (RM 435)
The Champagnes were made in collaboration with Champagne House Thiénot - one of the youngest independent, family-owned houses in Reims.
Producing cuvées in limited quantities, Thiénot is known for its modern and fruit-forward expressions that matches Penfolds' approach & style.
The French Wine Trial (FWT) series is Penfolds’ ongoing experiment in blending its winemaking expertise with France’s famed terroirs. The FWT 585 2021, which marks the third vintage of this series, blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot from Bordeaux.
While aging in French oak is traditional in the region, Penfolds also uses American oak which is unconventional for Bordeaux, adding a touch of vanilla spice and fruitines which is true to the Penfolds house style.
According to Peter Gago, Penfolds Chief Winemaker, "Many great Penfolds wines were born from experimentation and trial... Our wines made in France pay respect to French terroir, yet one thing remains overly consistent... the Penfolds stamp. We have the French sun above and soil beneath, but everything in between is Penfolds!"
