Glenallachie Tasting at D by Dirty

We had an educational tasting session with Andrew Mustard of The GlenAllachie recently who shared with us that the whisky was originally produced for blending (and has also been used in brands like Ballantines and Chivas).

The distillery has been around since 1967, changed hands a few times and even mothballed at one point of time... It only started producing its own single malts when it was bought over by industry veteran Billy Walker (of BenRiach, GlenDronach and Glenglassaugh fame before he sold them off to Brown–Forman) and his friends in 2017.

Matured in the Speyside region, the core range we tasted was aged in ex bourbon casks and finished in combinations of PX and oloroso... fruits, vanilla and Christmas is what the 12 and 15 reminded me of (both bottled at 46%) - Santa would totally leave you more presents if you left a dram out for him.

What stood out most for me was the cask strength 10 (batch 7, 56.8%) which reminded me of honey baked ham. Delish.

Here's also a quick look at D by Dirty, which is located above Lye@110 (all part of the same group as Ryu and Dark, and are all located around Taman Tun) it has quite a selection of whisky and gin.

Thank you D by Dirty and Asiaeuro Group for having us.
