75 Years of Penfolds Grange

We were recently invited to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Grange by Penfolds at Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur, with an evening of wine, food and a vertical tasting of one of Australia’s most iconic wines.

First created in 1951 by Penfolds’ first Chief Winemaker, Max Schubert, Grange began as an ambitious experiment inspired by his travels through Europe. His vision was to create a full-bodied Australian red with the structure and ageing potential of the great wines he had encountered overseas.

Toki Suntory Whisky Officially Launches in Malaysia

The House of Suntory has officially launched Toki Suntory Whisky in Malaysia.

Toki brings together whiskies from three of its renowned Japanese distilleries: Hakushu, Yamazaki and Chita. 

Drew Mayville Visits Kuala Lumpur

Sazerac Master Blender Drew Mayville was in Kuala Lumpur for the first time for a series of whiskey tastings and events, including a masterclass at Smith & Wollensky, which we recently attended.

For those unfamiliar with Mayville, he has spent more than 40 years in the spirits industry, including almost 23 years with Seagram, where he worked across distilling, quality, blending and technical services before becoming the company’s fourth and final Master Blender.

Château Purcari: A Taste of Moldova’s Wine Heritage

We were recently invited to a Purcari wines masterclass at Smith & Wollensky, hosted by Regional Director Artiom Juc, who took us through a selection of the winery’s wines and its history.

Founded in 1827, Château Purcari is one of Moldova’s oldest wineries. It first gained international recognition in 1878, when its Negru de Purcari won gold at the World Exhibition in Paris. The wines were later served at European royal courts, including the British royal household, giving rise to its "Queen’s wine” association.

“Rate Your Pint” is a nationwide campaign that lets consumers rate their Guinness Draught serves and contribute to the country’s first “Perfect Pint Guide”.

Lagg Whisky

Located on the southern coast of the Isle of Arran, Lagg Whisky officially opened in 2019 as a dedicated peated whisky distillery.

It was created as the smoky counterpart to its sister distillery, Arran, which is known for producing lighter, fruit-forward island whiskies at Lochranza in the north of Arran.

 

Monkey Shoulder's Old Fashioned Bar Takeover in KL

Monkey Shoulder is featuring the Old Fashioned across Kuala Lumpur bars throughout May 2026. 

Participating venues include Three X Co, Frank’s Bar, Benang The Second Chapter, and ENSŌ Izakaya & Bar, all offering different interpretations of the whisky-based classic.

Tiger Beer's “Brewed to Defy the Heat”

Tiger Beer, in collaboration with Malaysian street artist Kenji Chai, has created a custom-designed Kombi van which will travel across Klang Valley (and JB) from now until 31 May 2026.

Michter’s Special Release Whiskies Now Available in Malaysia

A range of special release whiskies from Michter’s has officially arrived in Malaysia, bringing together some of the brand’s limited annual and aged expressions.

The lineup includes Bomberger’s Declaration Kentucky Straight Bourbon 2025 and Shenk’s Homestead Sour Mash 2025, alongside aged and small-batch releases such as Michter’s 10 Year Bourbon and 10 Year Rye.

 The first participating venues in Kuala Lumpur include Penrose and Lavantha.

Hennessy MyWay 2026 Returns to Malaysia

Hennessy has opened registrations for Hennessy MyWay 2026, its global bartending competition for professional bartenders.

The competition invites bartenders to submit original cocktail videos, with sustainability as a key judging factor. 

Kuala Lumpur Cocktail Week 2026: 28 April – 3 May

Kuala Lumpur Cocktail Week (KLCW) returns for its 3rd edition, featuring guest shifts from top bars across Asia, cocktail and food pairing dinners, industry talks and masterclasses, and parties.
